"Bad Boys and Blondes" Bossa Nova
for Brass Quintet and Percussion (1:10)

Commentary by Left Brain and Right Brain.

Left Brain: "My assignment was to compose a minute of music to promote Murder of a Botoxed Blonde, the 9th book in the Scumble River Mystery book series by author Denise Swanson. This book, in tandem with her previous book Murder of a Real Bad Boy, struck a spark of inspiration."

Right Brain: "So I guess this is a twofer, eh? A rough draft of this piece was premièred during a lecture which the author gave to a Chicago meeting of Sisters in Crime. Afterward a study group issued a series of 79 recommendations for this music, which ranged from 'cut and run' to 'bomb it into the stone age'."

Left Brain: "The most important of these recommendations were to tone up the conga and bongo drums, and to tone down the guiros. After a few other revisions, this piece was completed in January 2007 in Houston, Texas."
